Plastic Bag Tutu

Friends help friend lace heels
Looking Trashy was key at last night's "Trashin' Fashion Show". All models were dressed in outfits designed entirely out of recycled materials. The dress I am pictured in, designed by a close friend, is made entirely out of plastic bags and made a great sound when I walked (not to mention the clack of my 4.5" heels). I loved the corset top, low back, and tutu effect that the designer created by gathering bags.

Rollin in the Deep

You should know a few things about me: hoops are my go-to accessory (and I strongly favor gold jewelry), dirty martinis and gin and tonics are my drinks of preference, I find painting my nails is therapeutic, and I don't like to do anything to my hair. In this picture, you see the first glimpse of my favorite short, open-back black dress.

Blame it on the Rain

It's a rainy day,  and I'm facing the world in high-waisted blue jeans, a long tan cardigan, a woven and alligator belt, a gray ruffle leotard from Urban Outfitters, and chunky gold jewelry. This is a pretty comfortable go-to look for me when I pair it with oxford flats (something I have a small collection of). My hair and the state of my apartment living room reflect the wildness that was last night. What can I say? It's shabby chic.

Flashback to New Years Eve

This past New Years Eve,  I wore a short silver dress with lace shoulders and an open back with plain black tights and black booties by Seychelles. A few drinks in, I posed for this picture. To tone down the feminine floral lace, I paired the look with black military-style boots. Since, I've wanted an occasion to dress this outfit differently, but this length only lends itself to a few settings. The song makes me ready for another all-nighter, though.

Modest Beginnings

This sweater, a vintage Dior pick, is my latest find along with these retro-inspired wedges by Seychelles. I'm cinching the waist of my over-sized cashmere sweater with a vintage olive-colored belt. I love over-sized sweaters with leggings, and at a measly 5'2", you'll find me in heels most days.
I'll take the opportunity to introduce myself, Annelise, a small-town dweller with a taste for everything. I'm attracted to the aesthetics of most everything despite the pervasive limitations of living in a town with a population that hovers around 15,000. I work in a local boutique but like to shop our local thrift store on half-off days.
Each day, I'll post an outfit and a song, because tastes are mutually influenced. Please leave comments and suggestions and enjoy!
